Utah Women & Leadership Announcements
November 12, 2015
First, the next Utah Women’s Leadership Speaker & Dialogue Series event is titled “Neuroscience, Confidence, and Leadership for Girls & Women” on January 27 (6:30-8:30 pm) at UVU. Check out the event flyer; choose one of three workshops that evening (see page 2 of flyer). We will also have it live streamed:
- A Neuroscience Approach to Transform Your Leadership as Women (Dr. Sunnie Giles; for adult women)
- Strengthen Your Confidence as Young Women! (Dr. Susan Madsen, for middle school, high school, and college students)
- A Neuroscience Approach to Learning and Leadership Development for Girls & Young Women (Drs. Suzy Cox & Eve Miller, for parents, teachers, counselors, church youth leaders, other influencers)
Second, consider attending the “Collective Impact in Education” Summit to be held at the Salt Palace on November 19 from 8:00-2:00 pm (Office of Governor Herbert, The Salt Lake Chamber, United Way of Salt Lake, Prosperity 2020). One of the breakout sessions is titled “Educational and Leadership Achievement for Women,” which should be very interesting for all influencers (I’m one of the panelists and hope to see you there). Click here to register for this event.
Third, RSVP today for the Real Women Run Fall Networking Social (for those considering running for public office or being involved in a campaign) on Wednesday, Nov 11 from 5:30-7:30 pm. It is at the Market Street Grill in Cottonwood. Natalie Gochnour will moderate with Sopia DiCaro and Keila Mower; this will mainly be a networking event.
Fourth, the Utah Women’s Giving Circle is now accepting grant nominations for projects in Utah focused on their theme: “Objectified. More Than a Body.” See details on their website: http://utahwomensgivingcircle.com/grantmaking/
Finally, we had a fabulous event on Tuesday evening. Just a reminder that these events are now being filmed and will be hosted through UEN.org (Utah Education Network) and on our website at http://www.uvu.edu/uwlp/media/. Also, for those who missed the Utah Women & Education Forum and want to understand more about why Utah women are not graduating from college at higher numbers (and what we can do about it), you can watch that online at http://www.uen.org/news/article.php?id=664 . Reports and resources for helping more girls and women prepare for college can be found on the Utah Women & Education Initiative website. You’ll love the blog.
