Tucker Hermans wins Best Paper Award

June 2, 2017

Tucker Hermans has won the ICRA Best Medical Robotics Paper Award at the ICRA 2017 conference (IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation), for the paper titled “First Demonstration of Simultaneous Localization and Propulsion of a Magnetic Capsule in a Lumen using a Single Rotating Magnet”. The paper is co-authored by Katie M. Popek and Jake J. Abbott. This paper presents a method for closed-loop propulsion of a screw-type magnetic capsule with embedded Hall-effect sensors using a single rotating actuator magnet.
