New course UGS 2030

July 27, 2015

Attention All Students!

For all students interested in Community Change, Leadership, Social Impact, and Democracy, there is a new course being taught this Fall by Dr. Dean McGovern, the Executive Director of the Lowell Bennion Community Service Center.  Students will work hands-on with community projects in the SLC area. The course is Open to All Majors. We really need student participants to meet our community’s needs, so please check it out:

Description:

“Poverty, illiteracy, hunger, exploitation, and environmental degradation continue to plague our communities. What is at the heart of these issues? What is our best path to solutions? What can we do to cause change…together or individually?

In this course, students will explore the complex challenges that affect our communities today and the general principles of leadership in a democratic society. We will introduce tools and strategies such as service-learning to help with community development and create positive social change.”

Sign up for a new course today to make a difference!
