MESA National Competition Volunteers Needed

April 13, 2015

Hello Friends and Colleagues,

The Utah State Office of Education is proud to host the annual Mathematic, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) National Engineering Design Competition scheduled for June 17-20, 2015 at Weber State University.

In June, 88 students in grades 7-12 from across the US will be competing at Weber State University to design a low cost prosthetic arm for injured refuge children in developing countries.

The purpose of this competition is to encourage minorities, young women and underrepresented students to develop a high level of literacy in mathematics and science so they can play a leading role within an increasingly technology-based world.  Please check the National MESA website: http://mesausa.org/content/national-competition-1  for more information.

I also wanted to reach out to you and see if anyone would  be willing to volunteer their time in  assisting  before or during  the Competition. Please use this link  https://orgsync.com/109107/forms/137901  to sign up and specify which position you would like to be assigned to.

Thank you for your support in enhancing educational opportunities for underrepresented MESA students. Your generous service means a lot to the MESA students and staff.

Rita
