HackTheU!!

HackTheU is a 24-hour hackathon taking place on November 11th-12th at Lassonde Studios and is an event where students will be encouraged to develop apps or hardware in that time frame. Then they will submit them for judging at the end of the event to possibly win thousands of dollars in prizes.

Furthermore, hackathons are a great learning experience for students as we provide workshops (such as ones on Ruby and Rails, JavaScript, etc.)  throughout the event and also mentors who will be ready to assist with any issues. We are also excited that we have a multitude of hardware such as Oculus Rifts available to students in case they need to test their creations as they develop it.

HackTheU’s admission is free and each meal is provided for but we are capping attendance at 250 students. As our list of sponsors gets larger, we may however push the capacity of Lassonde Studios and aim to provide more student exposure to companies.

We have lots of plans already in store including a drone race to run in conjunction with the hackathon so it is bound to be a spectacular event.
