Josep Torrellas is the Saburo Muroga Professor of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). He is the Director of the Center for Programmable Extreme Scale Computing, and past Director of the Illinois-Intel Parallelism Center (I2PC). He is a Fellow of IEEE, ACM, and AAAS. He received the IEEE CS 2015 Technical Achievement Award, the 2017 UIUC Campus Award for Excellence in Graduate Student Mentoring, and was a Willett Faculty Scholar at UIUC. He is a member of the CRA Board of Directors, the International Roadmap for Devices and Systems (IRDS), the U.S. Board on Army Research and Development, and was a previous Council Member of CCC.
Dr. Tomer Y. Morad is the co-founder and CEO of Concertio, a provider of AI-powered performance optimization tools. Tomer co-founded Concertio while being a postdoc at the Runway program of the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute of Cornell Tech. Prior to Concertio, Tomer co-founded transSpot, a provider of systems for digital signage and public transportation. Tomer held senior positions in the industry, including CEO of transSpot, Chief Security Officer and Engineering Manager at Horizon Semiconductors, and a technical team leader at an intelligence unit in the Israel Defense Forces. Tomer earned his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Technion — Israel Institute of Technology in 2001, 2005 and 2015 respectively. His Ph.D. research was about energy-efficient system resource allocation, and it was conducted at the Intel Collaborative Research Institute for Computational Intelligence (ICRI-CI) at the Technion.
Andrea is a Senior Principal Engineer at Arm, where he currently leads the performance and workloads team for servers and networking. Andrea obtained a PhD from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Xiaoming Gu joined Alibaba JVM team as a Staff Engineer in early 2019. His current focus is Graal. His first experience on JVM internals was Apache Harmony back in 2008. Xiaoming spent more than 4 years on C2 JIT compiler when he was in Azul Systems. Before joining Alibaba, he worked on Apex runtime in Salesforce. He got his Ph.D. from University of Rochester.
Mei-Chin Tsai is a Group Principal Engineer Manager at Microsoft, responsible for .NET Languages and .NET Runtimes. She currently leads the charge to continuously evolve the .NET Runtime to handle modern workloads. Mei-Chin graduated from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science. She joined Microsoft in 1994 and was one of the original developers on .NET. She is passionate about scalability and performance.
Suresh Srinivas is a Principal Engineer at Intel focused on Runtimes. He has a PhD in Computer Science and 25 years of Industry Experience developing JITs, HW/SW codesign, and . He is also a Yoga and Meditation teacher. Outside of work he volunteers in the community and enjoys hiking the Pacific Northwest with his dog.
