B2B Executive Leadership Application

Hello students,

The University of Utah’s Bench-to-Bedside (B2B) Program is in the process of recruiting new leaders to serve on the B2B Executive Leadership Committee for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year.

B2B is a health innovation program that places students into interdisciplinary teams, provides them with a $500 budget, a clinician/industry mentor, and gives them six months to develop any solution to an existing healthcare problem (i.e. medical device, app, bio-material, business plan, etc.). These student teams compete for roughly $77,000 in awards and use that money to create their own start-up company from their idea.

B2B is looking for dedicated, hardworking students interested in expanding their leadership skills and accelerating the growth of B2B for the 2017-2018 school year. Working in the B2B Executive Leadership is a unique opportunity for students to expand their leadership capabilities, interpersonal skills, and their personal networks via constant interaction with top students/entrepreneurs/innovators/professionals of the University of Utah and the health-tech industry of Salt Lake City.

These top four B2B Executive Leadership positions are open for all graduate students with leadership experience and senior undergraduate students who have had previous B2B Committee experience:

B2B Student Director

B2B Engineering Co-President

B2B Medical Co-President

B2B Business Co-President

This position is responsible for program quality, events, and data acquisition. This includes overseeing the planning of events and workshops as well as the collection of participant information throughout the year. They are responsible to work with the marketing chair to market the program to the health sciences students.

B2B Engineering Co-President

The Engineering Co-President is typically a student who has previously served as a B2B Engineering Chair; however, this position is open to students of all disciplines. This position is primarily responsible for working with the engineering department to increase involvement of their students as well as overseeing teams through the B2B Ambassadors during the year. This involves ensuring that the individual needs of each team is met throughout the duration of the program. They are responsible for reporting each week to the executive committee on the progress of the teams and focus given to struggling teams.

B2B Business Co-President (New Position)

The Business Co-President is typically a student who has served as a B2B Business Chair; however, this position is open to students of all disciplines. We are just about set to host another Utah Science Olympiad State Tournament here on the University of Utah campus. The event is Saturday, April 15, 2017 from as early as 6:30am to as late as 7:30pm. We need all the help we can get to pull this off, all throughout the day. Review your schedule, note that this is Easter weekend, and register as a volunteer if you can help us out! Please do not register until you can commit, as cancellations do cause issues with running a smooth tournament.
