select/3 call equivalent in mzscheme

What's the best way to do a

select(if_list, of_list, exc_list, time_out)

[
which sees if there is any input/output/exceptions on the three file
descriptor lists (if_list, of_list, exc_list), and times out after time_out
(modulo MS-Windows idea of a file_descriptor ;-)
]

call in mzscheme?
