Join Our UGSAC!
August 12, 2016
Hello,
We hope your summer is going well and you are gearing up to come back to the grind in the fall.
The Undergraduate Student Advisory Committee (UGSAC) is looking for new members for the academic year of 2016-17. UGSAC is a student organization that consists of 5 members that work closely with School of Computing Faculty. We work as a liaison to bring concerns of the student body to the School of Computing and the professors. We hold events for the student body in collaboration with the School of Computing. Some of which are a Meet and Greet event and a How to be a CS student panel. We help represent the department in various capacities. From recruiting new students at Red White and U day to playing a critical role in the hiring/tenure decisions for new faculty members.
As students, we feel it is important to bring students and professors closer and so, as a member of UGSAC,
- You will get to know a lot of the professors
- There a lot of free food.
- You get a holistic view of how the department is run.
- You get a chance to interact with professors in a very different way and work with them to move away from the typical student-teacher relationship.
- It is a great way to meet interesting people and create connections with the department as well as students.
- Of course, Have fun with the team!
All in all, it is a unique opportunity and something students don’t get a chance to do very often. If you are interested in joining. Please fill out this form if you are interested. The form will be open till September 9th, 2016.
Thank you,
Undergraduate Student Advisory Committee
